Very sad news
Over the last month, we have lost our colleagues and friends Natalia Panina, Warren Mitofsky, and Ihor Yanchenko.

Natalia Panina (10 Sep 1949 – 08 Aug 2006) was one of the most famous sociologists in Ukraine, specializing in methodology of sociological studies and international relations, social adaptation and other directions. She had over 200 scientific publications, among which we can find her well-known textbook “Sociological Study Technology” and such monographs as “Human Rapport Psychology” and “Social Insanity”, as well as a number of monographs based on results of the sociological monitoring performed by the NASU (National Academy of Science of Ukraine) Institute of Sociology. The biography of Natalia Panina, her list of publications and an article by Volodymyr Paniotto dedicated to Natalia Panina can be found on the site of the International Biographic Initiative at http://www.unlv.edu/centers/cdclv/programs/bios.html.

1-st of September at the age of 71 after heart attack died Warren Mitofsky – one of the best experts of exit-poll surveys (since 1967 he took part near 3000 exit-polls and prepared detailed monograph). Warren was very generous and responsive person. He didn't take part in exit-polls in Ukraine directly, but starting from 2002 he helped us in conducting 5 exit-polls by his advises. He immediately answered all e-mails with different questions, sent us some references and materials, took part in publishing our book about exit-polls in Ukraine. It was so good to know, that if any problems - we can write to Warren and receive prompt and very professional advise...
It's a big loss for all of us.
Flashbacks of colleagues can be found on a site AAPOR: http://www.aapor.org

Ihor Yanchenko (2 Jun 1938 – 3 Sep 2006), one of our first associates, died at the age of 68 after a serious illness.
Until his incurable disease became an insuperable hindrance, Ihor Yanchenko had devoted almost seven years of his life (from July 1990 till January 1997) to creating and then supporting the work of our team that has had its present name since 1992. We will always remember him as a sympathetic, kind and extremely delicate person and an assiduous colleague we could always rely on being sure he would never let us down.
The KIIS staff express their sincere condolences to Ihor Yanchenko’s family.

Kiev International Institute of Sociology (KIIS) is planning to launch a new for Ukrainian market service: the research consultancy
The research consultancy such a service is in demand in Western Europe and United States, and the Ukrainian research market is ready to accept it today. The national companies are in need not for the research only, and even not so much for the research, as for the qualified advice: what kind of research do they need, how to order them, how to control and how to interpret the results.
The consultancy sphere will be headed by Dmitriy Krakovich who joined KIIS after working in the United States.
At the present time the company is conducting a range of research to determine the volume and the structure of demand on consultancy.
The future steps that are planned: cooperation with some of Ukrainian business magazines, seminars and special periodicals for top managers.
