Dynamics of positive attitude of Ukrainians to Russia and Russians to Ukraine («The end of unrequited love of Ukrainians to Russia»)

Press-release contains the results of the joint project of the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (RIIS) and Russian non-governmental research organization «Levada-Center».

From September 11 to September 21, 2015 the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS) conducted All-Ukrainian poll. 2041 respondents were interviewed, living in 108 localities in all Ukrainian regions (except Crimea), random sample representative of the population Ukraine at the age of 18 years and older.

In Lugansk region a survey was conducted only on the territories controlled by Ukraine, in Donetsk region it was held on both territories: which is under the control of Ukraine and which is not controlled by Ukraine.

Statistical sampling error (with probability 0.95 and design effect 1.5) does not exceed:

3,3% – for the indicators close to 50%

2,8% – for the indicators close to 25%

2,0% – for the indicators close to 10%

1,4% – for the indicators close to 5%.

«Levada Center» conducted a survey on a representative sample for Russia from May 22 to May 25, 2015. 1,602 respondents were interviewed aged 18 and older in 130 localities of 45 regions of the country.

Statistical error doesn’t exceed 3.4%.

A number of Ukrainians who have a positive attitude to Russia and Russians is almost equal to the number of those who support Ukraine for the first time observations. In all previous studies Ukrainians had a better attitude to Russia than Russians to Ukraine.
