Trust to social institutes, December 2018
The most trusted category among the Ukrainians is ordinary people living nearby (68%), volunteers who are helping the army and displaced people (63% and 61%), the church (51%), and the armed forces of Ukraine (51%). The least trust belongs to the government of Ukraine (11%), the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (8%) and Russian media (4%). In general, the level of trust in some institutions has changed somewhat over the year.
Attitude of the Ukrainians to public holidays, November 2018
Compared to previous periods, the biggest increase is observed in the importance of celebrating the Independence Day, and importance of holidays such as the Day of the Defender of Ukraine and the Constitution Day also increased. The share of the population for which the International Women's Day was among the favorite holidays slightly decreased. New Year, Christmas, and Easter are stably among top-3 holidays.
Trust to social institutions
The most trustworthy institutions for the Ukrainians are the church, volunteers and the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The least trustworthy are the government of Ukraine, Russian mass-media and the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (these institutions` trust rate among the population is less than 10%). In general, the trust rate changed significantly over the past year. There is a tendency for the decrease of the Ukrainians rate of trust toward the social institutions.
COMMENTARY ABOUT THE STANDARDS FOR THE PUBLICATION OF THE SOCIOLOGICAL RATINGS
It turns out that many people interpret the sociological ratings incorrectly. Partly it is the fault of sociologists because they can not agree on the standards for the publication of ratings (actually they have agreed on some but not all). This comment is ought to help the readers of our site to understand this matter.The first thing that is always made public is the percentage of those who will vote for a particular party (or candidate) WITH THE RESPECT TO ALL RESPONDENTS. This is the direct results of the survey, and in relation to these indicators, the sampling errors are calculated. These data are needed to compare different studies, but THEY DO NOT SHOW WHAT PARTIES WILL BE ELECTED TO THE PARLIAMENT.
Religious Self-Identification and Prayer in Ukraine
80% of respondents say they belong to Christianity; 12% indicate that they do not belong to any religion but are believers. At the same time, 44% prayed at home at least once in the past week (prayed in their own words, by a prayer book or in some other way); 62% did so in the past month.
