COMMENTARY ABOUT THE STANDARDS FOR THE PUBLICATION OF THE SOCIOLOGICAL RATINGS

It turns out that many people interpret the sociological ratings incorrectly. Partly it is the fault of sociologists because they can not agree on the standards for the publication of ratings (actually they have agreed on some but not all). This comment is ought to help the readers of our site to understand this matter.

The first thing that is always made public is the percentage of those who will vote for a particular party (or candidate) WITH THE RESPECT TO ALL RESPONDENTS. This is the direct results of the survey, and in relation to these indicators, the sampling errors are calculated. These data are needed to compare different studies, but THEY DO NOT SHOW WHAT PARTIES WILL BE ELECTED TO THE PARLIAMENT.

Dynamics of the Internet usage in Ukraine: February – March, 2016

As of the beginning of the year, 62% of adult population of Ukraine use the Internet. The partition of the Internet users amongst the population of Ukraine aged 18-39 is 91%. Senior age and living in rural areas significantly reduces the likelihood of using the Internet.

People refuse from stationary phones even before phone tariffs increase

In spring of 2015 the percentage of mobile phone users among adult population in Ukraine was 2.3 times higher than the percentage of those who have a stationary (landline) phone: 89% of adults in Ukraine use mobile telecommunication, and only 39% use stationary phones. The percentage of stationary phone users continued to drop.

UKRAINIANS ARE WIDELY AWARE OF POLITICAL SHOWS

Kyiv International Institute of Sociology held a regular nationwide opinion poll in the midst of a political campaign during the period of September 12-23, 2012, which was designed to study popularity and target audience of sociopolitical programs in structure of Ukrainian television network.

2,012 respondents were interviewed; the survey covered all regions of Ukraine (including the city of Kyiv) and in Crimea; sample was random and representative for the population of Ukraine aged 18 years and older.

Dynamic of internet penetration in Ukraine

A marked increase in the number of Ukrainian Internet audience

KIIS conducted nationwide poll “Omnibus” KIIS during the period of February 10–19, 2012. 2029 respondents were interviewed, the survey covered all regions of Ukraine (including the city of Kyiv) and Crimea; sample was random and representative for the population of Ukraine aged 18 years and older.
