Is there a war going on between Russia and Ukraine?

Comparison of views of the Ukrainians and the Russians on armed conflict in Donbas

TherearebigdifferencesinhowtheUkrainiansandhowtheRussiansseetheroleofRussiain what has been going on in Ukraine during the last two years. Opinion that there is a war between Russia and Ukraine is shared by 63% of the Ukrainians and 25% of the Russians. Also 65% of the Ukrainians and 27% of the Russians think there are Russian troops on the territory of Ukraine. While 83% of the Russians approve the accession of Crimea to Russia, only 10% of the Ukrainians share this view.

Changes in the attitude of the Ukrainians toward Russia and of the Russians toward Ukraine

Mutual hostility of Ukraine and Russia remains to be the general tendency. As it was before, attitude of the Ukrainians toward Russia is better than one of the Russians toward Ukraine. Attitude of the Ukrainians toward Russia has not changed much since September 2015, attitude of the Russians toward Ukraine has gone worse.

Attitude toward Stalin

About quarter of adult population of Ukraine think Stalin was a great leader, 44% do not think so. Indifferent attitude towards Stalin is the most common (26%) amongst the Ukrainians, at the same time 17% treat him with disgust and hatred, slightly smaller percentage – with respect (13%), and with hostility and irritation (13%). Opinion that Stalin was a “wise leader” is supported by 28% of the population, while 70% agree that “Stalin is cruel, inhuman tyrant, guilty of the extermination of millions of innocent people”. Almost three quarters of the population say that they would NOT like to live and work with such leader of state as Stalin.

What do women want?

For a couple of years KIIS has been helping men to choose presents for women for March 8th. Moreover we are asking men about their plans and find out that they are using our advices.

According to the results of the poll, top 6 presents women want to receive are flowers, care and attention, jewelry, romantic journey, money, toilet water or perfume, and cosmetics.

Presidential candidates ranking, February 2016

If presidential elections had been held in mid-February, Petro Poroshenko would have received the highest support (9% in relation to all respondents) from adult population of the territories that are now controlled by Ukraine. Yulia Tymoshenko would have occupied the second place then (6.8%), and Oleh Lyashko – the third one (4.6%).
