Some anecdotes very accurately and succinctly describe social processes. "What is democracy? - once asked the Sociologist. And he replied: "This is a social system in which power belongs to the people, and everything else - to the government." And instead of this witty answer, the sociological concept of minimalist democracy could be explained for a long time. The author has selected anecdotes from various topics studied by sociologists, and in his comments to the anecdotes shows what conclusions sociologists could draw by analyzing the situation described in the anecdote. Each topic is accompanied by a brief description of sociological concepts from the lectures of the introductory course in sociology, read by the author at the "Kyiv-Mohyla Academy".
