Miroslav Volodymyrovych Popovich passed away

On February 10, 2018 a prominent philosopher Myroslav Popovich has passed away. He was a wonderful person, a scientific and moral authority for a lot of us. Few people know that he enhanced the development of sociological science in Ukraine; for some time he led the first sociological department at the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine - the department of methodology and techniques of social research at the Institute of Philosophy.

Manipulation with the KIIS data in the Russian press!

The Russian resource URA.RU published an article that is a vivid example of data manipulation. The name of the article is “The majority of Ukraine`s population is ready to move to Russia”. The commentary of V.Paniotto:

“I was sent a link to the article at URA.ru with the question whether it was true or false. Here is my answer: “The majority of Ukraine`s population is ready to move to Russia” does not relevant to the data we have. The published quote is the answer to the question about the attitude to the fact that some residents of Ukraine work in Russian Federation (“What is your attitude to the fact that residents of Ukraine work in Russian Federation?”). It does not equivalent to the desire to move to Russia...

New Year press release: what presents do the Ukrainians expect for the year of the earth dog

Over the past few years, on the New Year holidays` eve, KIIS conducts the survey to find out what presents are popular among the Ukrainians.

According to the survey results, the Ukrainians, as it was previously, are quite mercantile: at the first place with a big break are money, about 17% of the polled would love to receive them as a gift. Further three presents are the automobile and the accessories for it, the romantic journey, and the household appliances (from 6% to 7%).
