According to a KIIS survey, two-thirds (67%) of respondents experienced some sort of stressful situation during 2020. This is significantly more than in the period 2017-2019, when 50-53% of respondents experienced stress. Compared to all previous years of measurements (2013-2019), in 2020 there is a relatively highest proportion of those who survived a serious illness or death of relatives (16% of respondents), as well as those who lost their jobs (13%). Compared to 2019, in 2020 it became more of those who lost faith in people, faced meanness (there were 6% in 2019, became 10% in 2020), and those who found themselves without means of subsistence (there were 3%, became 6%). At the same time, both in 2019 and in 2020, compared to 2013-2018, a significantly smaller share of those who felt helpless or lost faith in their own strength.

KIIS conducts a survey of the population's attitude to opinion polls once a year, in December. The December 2020 poll showed that 41% of respondents trust the data of long-term working sociological organizations, 21% do not trust, others do not have a certain opinion about it. The level of trust in these sociological polls has not changed in recent years (in 2019 it was 42%, and in 2020 - 41%). The balance of trust and distrust (percentage of those who trust, minus the percentage of those who distrust) is + 20%, a year ago it was equal to + 21% (a small statistically insignificant decrease).

The research in question has been conducted by the Gallup International Association of Independent Research Agencies since 1947 in 42 countries, including Ukraine for some time. Romir Research Holding is a representative of this association throughout the post-Soviet space, and in Ukraine this year this research was conducted by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS) together with the “Democratic Initiatives” Foundation.

In general, most respondents trust V. Zelenskyi(32,8% trust and 59,6% do not trust, the balance of trust and distrust is -26,8%), V. Klychko (31,8% against 54,3%, balance – -22,5%), D. Razumkov (29,2% against 36,5%, balance – -7,3%), Yu. Boiko (25,8% against 50,9%, balance – -25,1%), V. Hroisman (25,4% against 62,2%, balance – -36,8%), S. Prytula (25,3% against 42%, balance – -16,7%).

У першій половині грудня 2020 року Київський міжнародний інститут соціології спільно з Фондом «Демократичні ініціативи» провели експеримент з порівняння рейтингів партій, отриманих методом особистих інтерв’ю (дослідження, проведене КМІС на замовлення Фонду) і методом телефонних інтерв’ю (власне дослідження КМІС, Омнібус). Обидва опитування були однаковими за обсягом вибірки (по 2000 респондентів), використовували однакове формулювання запитання і однаковий список партій. В обох випадках запитання йшло першим в анкеті, тобто виключався вплив інших запитань, а також опитування проводилися практично в той самий період: опитування методом особистих інтерв’ю було проведене 5-13 грудня, опитування методом телефонних інтерв’ю – 4-8 грудня. Єдина відмінність: опитування для Фонду «Демократичних ініціатив» проводилося методом особистих інтерв’ю на основі випадкової вибірки на перших ступенях відбору з квотним відбором на останньому ступені. Опитування КМІС – на основні вибірки випадкової генерації мобільних номерів (тобто випадково генеруються мобільні номери, а не відбираються з певної бази) без додаткових квот, з лише опитуванням осіб, що досягли 18 років і старше і проживають на території України.

У Луганській і Донецькій областях опитування проводилося тільки на території, що контролюється українською владою.

Статистична похибка вибірки (з імовірністю 0,95 і за дизайн–ефекту 1,5) не перевищує: 3,3% для показників близьких до 50%, 2,8% — для показників близьких до 25%, 2,0% — для показників близьких до 10%, 1,4% — для показників близьких до 5%.
